Designer Snapshot: Dagg & Stacey

Karen Dagg and Stacey Paterson are the ladies who lend their names - as well as their undeniable style and serious skills - to the Canadian label Dagg & Stacey.  They describe their clothing as "...a subtle balance of enduring, effortless style, quality craftsmanship, and femininity", and as a long-time fan of their clothes I would have to agree.

While they're not widely available yet, Dagg & Stacey also produce a line of children's clothing - after all, kids should have ethically made, sustainable clothing too.  We're sure that Stacey's little girl and her new little one are the most stylish children around!  

Who are your style icons?

"We really love women who are confident in the way they dress … those who dress for themselves, unconcerned with the latest fleeting fad or coveted label of the moment. We absolutely love Diane Keaton as Annie Hall and Tilda Swinton always looks incredible!!"

What do you love the most about working in fashion? 

"We love the ability to work on something new every six months when we create our collections. Fashion is always moving and having to react and adapt in its flow can be quite stimulating. We're really hands-on people and love learning new things whether it's a new pattern adjustment, sewing technique or how to propel our business forward. It's a great workout for the brain!!"

What inspires you everyday? 

"So many things inspire us and you're right, it's the little random day to day moments that are most inspiring! We love when the trees burst with flowers in spring and when the view outside our studio window turns into a snow globe for the first time in winter. We love the sound that the trains make as they rumble past our window or how the shape that the light casts on our wall from the skylight changes throughout the day. The list is endless but Adeline, Stacey's little girl takes the cake. Everything she does is pretty wondrous!"
