Things We Love Thursday: Echo Evenings & Bridal

It's that time of year again: Schmancy is this weekend, the Calgary Performing Arts Festival is in March and April, high school graduation is in May, and of course the high season for weddings has started!  Whether you need a stand-out dress for a big party, a music competition, graduation, or a wedding (either as the bride or a guest), Echo Evenings & Bridal has got you covered.

Located in the Scotia Centre in downtown Calgary, Echo specializes in providing dresses for nearly any occasion from a selection of designers, some of them exclusive to the boutique.  Styles range from conventionally elegant to fantastically unique and even a little outrageous - below are some of our picks!

A good cocktail dress in the right fabric, colour and pattern is appropriate for nearly any occasion.  Wear it again at an office event or at the office itself with the addition of a tailored blazer or a cropped jacket with plain pumps.

Evening gowns are always popular with high school grads but are also great for bridesmaids or mothers of the bride/groom.  The tone-on-tone details on these gowns (additional colours are also available for order) make them easy to match to wedding colours as well.

Metallic dresses are right on trend and are wonderful for when you need to feel really glamourous!  These dresses would be a good choice for a reception gown, especially Chinese brides following the tradition of changing into several different outfits after the ceremony.

Unconventional wedding dresses are becoming more common, with some brides choosing a coloured wedding gown instead of white or ivory.  Pink, yellow, and even black gowns have been popularized by celebrity brides like Jessica Biel, Gwen Stefani and Poppy Delevingne.

Of course, wedding dresses can be unconventional in more ways than just colour variation, with plenty of innovation in the use of fabric, texture, and cut.  With something for everyone, check out Echo Evenings & Bridal when planning your outfit for your next event!
