YYC Food Trucks: Spring Frenzy 2015

Contributed by Emma Callin

Everyday we're waff-wafflin'...

Last Friday I went to the Spring Frenzy at RiverWalk Plaza - which sounds a lot more dangerous than it is - to check out all the food trucks emerging from winter hibernation.  Besides some of the most well-known Calgary food trucks (Waffles & Chix and Taiko Taco are my personal favourites) and the Flyin' Hawaiian food truck from Lethbridge, the Crafted truck was also there, showcasing Canadian handmade goods.

Our passion for buying local applies to both food and fashion, so having the Crafted truck right next to the food trucks made perfect sense to us!  Being able to enjoy fantastic food and shop for unique items while still supporting local businesses is a win-win in our book.  The fact that all the cutlery and containers were compostable and biodegradable was just the cherry on top.

The weather was perfect too!  Be sure to check out the trucks when they're in your neighbourhood!

The line-ups were ENORMOUS, but it was worth the wait!

Good food is always better with good company - namely, my sister and my nephew!

Lethbridge's first food truck: The Flyin' Hawaiian.  Best non-alcoholic pina colada ever!

Even the cups!

Janine Vangool of Uppercase Magazine was on-hand with the Crafted truck.

Pam Morales in Calgary's first mobile artisan boutique!

Some of the fantastic wares available from the Crafted truck.
