There's been a lot of talk recently about the new Barbie dolls and their new body shapes, facial features and skin tones - some negative, some positive.  The big take-away for me is less about the doll and what it stands for and more a reminder that women do not come in standard sizes; even if we were all the same size I doubt that we would all have the same style.

So this week I decided to feature Nicky, the owner of WorldTown Cosmetics and the makeup artist for our blog, in one of her favourite pieces: a shirt dress by Allison Wonderland.  This one in particular is just the right length to also be worn as a tunic over a pair of skinny jeans or as a blouse tucked into a longer skirt with a high waist.

The weight of this dress means that it can also be layered over a longer dress to give the illusion of a flounced hem or a contrasting border trim.  Layering is one of the easiest ways to change the silhouette of a dress you already own; adding a belt is another simple trick.

Of course, all of these outfits would look quite different if they were shown on me - other than us both being petite Nicky and I have very different figures.  But that's the joy of personal style: taking an item of clothing off the rack and making it your own!

When you post your own #30wears challenge, make sure to tag a friend to encourage them to participate too!
