To market, to market

I'm not fond of sweets but I love fresh fruit - cherries in particular - so I love going to the Calgary Farmers' Market at this time of year.  Strawberries are in season and cherries, peaches, and apples will soon follow!  Besides the great fresh fruit there are plenty of other vendors providing fantastic food, fashion, art.. and virtually everything is locally grown, produced and/or made.

At Studio Intent we believe in supporting local businesses not only to help put money back into our community but also because we can actually meet and get to know the people who run them.  Buying locally-made also decreases the distance a product had to travel to get to us which minimizes its carbon footprint - it didn't need to be shipped or flown in from overseas.

Speaking of locally-made goods, Crafted is a prime example, with one of their two locations at the CFM after retiring their mobile store.  Whether you're looking for jewellery, clothing, body care, books or gifts, they have something for you.  The selection is diverse and can be customized as well.

The Calgary Farmers' Market is open year round Thursdays through Sundays and there's always something fresh and delicious there.  May through September are the best months to grab fresh fruit and produce and the food vendors have plenty on offer year round; check out the international food court while you're there too.
