February update: If it's broke

February has unfortunately been a month of needing to replace key items in my wardrobe, transforming my "buy-nothing" resolution into "spend lots of money".  The first item to go were my winter hiking boots, right in the middle of that cold snap we had earlier this month.  There was a valiant attempt to save them using rubber cement, but whenever I laced up the mended seam tore right out again.  Granted, I did buy the boots back in 2005 so I did get a lot of wear out of them.

So a new pair of winter hiking boots were bought.  And then my husband pointed out that my worn and much-mended pair of American Apparel leggings (bought in 2008) had become so sheer that my underwear was visible through them.  And then a number of my socks developed holes.  And then I needed new underwear.  The pop up with Azura Bay was thankfully in town at that point so I got some new leggings and underwear from them; I got new socks from Friday Sock Co. at Market Collective.

And then the latest iOS update on my old iPad caused it to stop working.  After a frustrating few hours trying to fix the issue at home using Apple Support I went in to the Apple Store to see if it could be fixed at the Genius Bar.  Since this involved waiting for almost two hours for the next available tech support specialist, I ended up wandering around the mall, and well... you know how you shouldn't go grocery shopping when you're hungry?  I definitely shouldn't have been window-shopping while I was cranky!  While I did make sure my purchase came from a made-in-America brand that does not use sweatshops, I ended up buying a t-shirt I definitely did not need.

I've known for a while that I shouldn't shop when I'm upset, so if I'm ever stuck in the mall again I'll need to avoid aimlessly wandering around (maybe bring a book & get a coffee).  At least my iPad is working again!
