Connection

When I first moved back to Calgary the city was known as a place to find oil, cowboys, and farmers - not so much a diverse and exciting culture scene!  Fast forward 20 years and the city has grown in ways I could never have imagined, with great local food, music, art, and fashion.  There are even a number of Calgarian fashion designers making waves in Canada and also around the world.

Some lines are manufactured entirely in Canada, many of those that aren't are committed to ethical manufacture and giving a living wage to craftsmen and women around the world.  It gives me a glow of patriotic pride that Canada not only produces talented artists, designers, and makers, but that they work to support the livelihood of others outside our nation as well.

Top: Fireflies for Lanterns - designed in Calgary, fairly made in Sri Lanka
Culottes: U.N.I. Co. (old) - designed in Calgary, made in Calgary
Shoes: Arnold Churgin (old) - designed in Calgary, handmade in Italy
