Vintage-y

When I first heard the phrase "90's vintage" I laughed - but after realizing that it has been twenty years since the 90's ended it doesn't seem so ridiculous.  I wore my mother's 1970's hand-me-downs in high school in the 1990's and she found it funny that I called them vintage, so I suppose what goes around comes around!  Beyond seeing a lot of nostalgic outfits becoming trendy again, consignment and secondhand stores are booming.  It's testament to a resurgence in interest in vintage fashion that's not just confined to the artsy/hippy stereotype.

Something I love about this current fascination with vintage clothing (whatever the decade) is the mix and match approach to style; it's not just about wearing secondhand or even about reproducing a historical fashion look.  So it's not uncommon to see a mix of vintage-inspired, some modern pieces, and secondhand vintage finds combined in one outfit.  Gotta love a trend that actually encourages stylistic freedom instead of limiting it!
